Cape Verde air and sea boarders are open, and sea boarders are open and everyone here is looking forward to people visiting.

TAP Air Portugal is the only operator flying to São Vicente at this point in time. All flights have a stop-over in Lisbon and depending on the flight you might need to stay the night in Lisbon. In that case your luggage will be shipped directly so make sure to have some travel essentials in your hand luggage. There are some nice hotels at walking distance of the Lisbon airport. 

 

TUI will start operating again with direct flights from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente again from October on.

Essential flight documents going to Cape Verde

• Cape Verde’s air and sea borders are open. You’ll need a COVID certificate or a COVID-19 RT PCR nasal swab test or an antigen test (Ag-RDT) to enter Cape Verde. The test has to be done in the last 72 hours before travel.

• To enter Cape Verde you’ll need to fill out a surveillance and health control form before boarding your flight.

• To avoid waiting lines at border control in São Vicente, buy your visa upfront via www.ease.gov.cv. This needs to be done at least 5 days before entering the country.

Your stay in Cape Verde

The island of São Vincente is still in a ‘state of emergency’, meaning mouth masks are mandatory from the age of 10 in enclosed spaces (supermarkets, banks, schools, airports, restaurants, cafés, musea, public transport, taxi …) and outdoors if it’s impossible to maintain social distancing.

Restaurants, snack bars, bars and open air cafés selling alcohol, close at midnight. Lounge bars close at midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends and bank holidays. All beaches are open. Hiking and travelling around the island are allowed at any time.

These social distancing and hygiene rules apply:

• keep a social distance of at least 2 m

• wash your hands regularly

• a maximum occupancy in shops and service, restaurants, cafés, gyms and on public transport applies

You may be exempt from wearing a mouth mask on medical grounds if authorized by local health authorities.
If you’re experiencing symptoms or are infected with the coronavirus, a 14-day quarantine is mandatory.

Inter-island travel in Cape Verde

​

Inter-island flights and passenger ferries are operational between all islands. If you’re flying or taking a boat to some of the islands, you’ll need to complete an online health surveillance form and present a negative COVID-19 test (rapid antigen test) that doesn’t exceed 72 hours. Children under the age of 7 are not required to take the test.

You can book your a test online on São Vicente, which costs 1,000 CVE (around 8 EUR). It includes a health declaration from and a result certificate which needs to be shown upon boarding.

Essential flight documents leaving Cape Verde

• You’ll need to present a negative PCR test in all airports you’re flying from, with a validity of 72 hours.

• Book your test upfront here. Present yourself on the scheduled time and place. Test results are available within 24 hours.

• ​A PCR test costs 6500 CVE (around 59 EUR) and needs to be paid cash. A photocopy of your passport and your flight tickets is mandatory to be able to take the test. 

• If you’re flying back to Belgium you’ll need to fill out a passenger locator form, 48 hours before arrival. Check local travel policies if you're travelling to another country.
