If you’re planning to do just one walk during your stay, let it be climbing up Monte Verde, the
highest mountain (744 m) on São Vicente. The views from the top are just stunning. If you’re
lucky the shack is open for a sweet couscous - a local specialty – with a view. Total distance: 10
km return if you start from the foot of the mountain. You can start your walk in Mindelo as well.
In that case it will be a 22 km return trip.
Good to know:
The climb can be a bit steep at times but the road is in a good condition.
Be sure to wear walking shoes or comfortable sneakers.
Don’t forget to take enough water and a sweater in spring, autumn and winter because it can be quite windy at times.
