In just one hour by ferry you’re on Santo Antão, our neighbor island. It’s so luscious and green
that it almost feels as if you’re in another country. The Corda Road leads you from Porto Novo
(where the ferry moors) to Ribeira Grande and winds its way through stunningly gorgeous
landscapes. Make sure to book a car.
On Santo Antão there are so many lovely places and you could spend months and months
hiking. If you’re going for a long weekend we recommend these highlights:
a visit to the lighthouse
a dip into the natural pools of sinagoga
walk to Xoxo and a refreshing drink afterwards in Bar Melicia
a descent into the Paul valley via the Pico Do Cruz. Stay the night here. It’s just stunning.
a walk from Fontainhas – a little village located on a steep slope and considered as the second best view in the world – to Ponta do Sol.
